Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Must pass a 6G (Stick/SMAW) welding qualification test
- FCAW 6G certification required (must pass within 90 days if not initially successful)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years minimum welding experience on drilling rigs and associated equipment
- (Preferred) 10+ years of welding experience in oilfield environments
- Certifications for welding structural steel such as Grade 50 and 4130
- Valid Driver’s License (Real ID compliant) for travel to Alaska/North Slope
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and fitness-for-duty testing
- Full commitment to safety and HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) programs
Required Skills
Technical Skills:
- SMAW (Stick), GTAW, and FCAW welding processes
- 6G position welding
- Air Carbon Arc Gouging
- Oxy-acetylene cutting
- Fabrication and fitting of complex structural assemblies
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques
- Use of hand and power tools (grinders, sledgehammers, measuring tools)
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to stand/walk up to 12 hours per shift
- Work at heights (6 feet or more) with fall protection
- Climb stairs and ladders (25–50 steps multiple times daily)
- Perform overhead work and heavy manual labor
- Maintain strong balance, coordination, and arm-hand steadiness
- Lift and carry heavy objects throughout the shift
