Role Overview
As an Engineering Intern, you will support the Transport Network team in a variety of traffic engineering and transport planning tasks. The internship provides practical experience in local government operations, helping interns develop technical, administrative, and project management skills.
This position is ideal for proactive students who are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about traffic engineering and transport planning.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Engineering Intern include:
- Supporting Traffic Engineers and Traffic Officers with traffic investigations and administrative tasks for the Local Transport Forum.
- Investigating and responding to customer requests related to traffic engineering functions.
- Assisting in the preparation of Work Orders for signposting and linemarking works resulting from Transport Forum resolutions and other traffic investigations.
- Reviewing traffic permit applications assigned to the traffic team.
- Contributing to projects that improve safety, accessibility, and efficiency in the local transport network.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering or Transport Planning degree.
- Strong interest in local government and traffic engineering.
- Ability to work 4–5 full days per week during the internship.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
