We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Industrial Electrician Job in New Zealand to join our maintenance team at the Wairoa processing plant. In this critical role, you will ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of high-tech processing equipment and site infrastructure, helping to minimize downtime and support efficient daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Fault Finding
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults across processing machinery, conveyors, packaging lines, and refrigeration systems
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime
Preventative & Planned Maintenance
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability
- Identify potential failures and take proactive corrective action
Automation & Control Systems
- Work with PLCs, VSDs, and automated control systems to optimize plant performance
- Support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and improvements
Installation & Commissioning
- Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of new plant and equipment
- Ensure installations comply with electrical standards and site requirements
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and electrical regulations
- Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others at all times
Job Requirements
- Relevant electrical qualification (NZQF Level 4 or recognised equivalent)
- Current electrical practising licence (full registration or limited licence accepted)
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a production environment
- Strong commitment to health and safety compliance
- Willingness to work as part of a maintenance team in a processing plant environment
Skills & Competencies
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience with industrial PLC and HMI systems (e.g. Allen Bradley, Schneider)
- Knowledge of VSDs and automated control systems
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU, TCP/IP)
- Ignition SCADA programming experience (preferred)
- Proactive mindset with strong organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to breakdowns efficiently
