The Senior Accountant is responsible for regular and rigorous day-to-day financial management. This includes bookkeeping, budget monitoring, financial reporting, and compliance with IITA and World Bank procedures. The role also provides administrative support related to finance.

The Station Accountant reports hierarchically to the Project Head of Mission.

Duties

  • Prepare and review project financial reports.
  • Review partners’ financial reports and prepare financial justification.
  • Respond to queries raised by Budget Officers about projects and fund status.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets.
  • Raise journals for necessary adjustments on various accounts and load them into Oracle.
  • Update, review, and reconcile bills receivable from donors with the total grant income of projects.
  • Support the institute’s annual audit with relevant schedules and respond to audit queries.
  • Promptly promote the month-end budget monitoring report.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

Qualification

  • University degree at Bac+4 level (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related field.
  • Experience in accounting management for projects funded by international donors is an asset.

Competencies

  • Have excellent communication skills in writing, reading, and speaking.
  • Have a strong analytical mind.
  • Be very good with computer applications, especially Oracle.
  • Be a good team player and honest.
  • Have a good command of French and English. Knowledge of Malagasy is an asset.
